I enjoy illustrating in other mediums and techniques. I met an artist some time ago, who created native Indian portraits in pen and ink. I was so fascinated by his work that we got to talking about his cross hatch pen and ink styling he used. I not only bought a couple of his beautiful pieces, but I gave this technique a try of my own. In the illustrations below titled "Boots" (which was my grandmothers cat) and "Brussels" (a photo I took entering into the Grand Place in Brussels, Belgium) are my attempt with this technique, which I came to love working in. This fine detailed work later piqued my curiosity for botanical illustration and I began taking classes working in graphite, colored pencil and watercolor.
